We formed Science & Letters in 2026 to fully focus on our love of language. As life-long readers, we are invested in the existence of quality written work. Our founders come from different disciplines, but are joined by our passions for science and literature. Our editors are here to help authors craft clear, error-free, accessible written work. Individually, we specialize in editing science research and science fiction and horror.

Carolyn Roper
Technical Editor, Founder
Carolyn has 19 years of experience providing editorial services for research scientists and engineers. She started her career working with scientists and economists working on issues of food availability and security and most recently has been working with fisheries scientists and water resources engineers on work focused in the Pacific Northwest. She also has experience providing academic test editing and dallied in private industry.
Alex Jones
Science Fiction & Horror Editor, Founder
After gaining his editing certificate from the University of Washington, Alex decided to bring his over 20 years of quality assurance experience in games and love of language to editing. He brings a keen eye and flair with words and firmly believes in the constructive part of constructive criticism. In his free time, Alex spends his time reading, playing games, and pursuing other creative endeavors.
